Stubb never intended to bottle his sauce. For years, his friends Sharon and Joe Ely begged him to do it, but he was too stubborn to agree. Then, around Christmas of 1989, Sharon tried a new strategy, “He needed money for Christmas presents, so I said, please let us do it just this once. We can sell the sauce for folks to give as gifts.” This time, Stubb agreed. The rest is Bar-B-Q history that will spice up your life.

The taste of everything you smell and savor at a Texas BBQ, like dry-roasted ancho chilies, three kinds of garlic and green onion.
Instructions: Place your favorite steaks in a zip top plastic bag or bowl. Shake this marinade thoroughly and pour enough into the bag or bowl to cover your steaks completely. Cover bowl or close zip top bag. Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight for richer flavor.
A Little Something Extra: Upon hearing about a friend who was delivering artwork to Johnny Cash, Stubb decided to join him and deliver some of his BBQ. Off into the night they drove from Lubbock to Nashville without a map and in a car borrowed from ''some guy named Chuck.''
